Okay! Will get in touch the trademark people and reference this thread for reference. I'll update this thread as the process go.

Yes, that’s the right approach, thanks for persevering with this!

Actually dug that up on the ASF pages:

Looks like for swag, there aren't guidelines at the moment, I must
contact tradema...@apache.org . I intend to do so, but checking in with
the developers here first.

Just before I start uploading work to a repository, here's what I would
use/mention for licenses and copyrights:

The work would be licensed under CC BY-SA
(https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.1/jp/deed.en) as to
comply
with the use of the NekoBean mascot (which I intend to use on some
designs).

For use of the Apache Netbeans logo, I'd mention in the copyrights file
that is is a trademark of the ASF, just like mentioned in the Netbeans
Website footer.

Speaking of which, do I need written consent from Netbeans committers
and/or the ASF for use of the logo on such work?

I just want to make sure everything is in order given it's going to be
hosted on a public repository - I wouldn't want to involuntarily
infringe on copyrights or be the source of copyright infringement should
the repository be cloned and then altered by somebody else.

Cool! What I'd do is create a repository on Github with some design
ideas and share it here on the mailing list once it's ready.

Of course, if there are requests (t-shirts, laptop stickers and
whatnot)
you'd like me to tackle, I'll see what I can do.

Greetings Netbeans community,

I've been using Netbeans for Java development for about a year now
and
never looked back since then - really love it. I wanted to give back
somehow but as I don't have much time to dig into the internals of
Netbeans (although I would sure love to at some point), I wanted to
contribute in a different way.

I went to ASF's RedBubble page
(https://www.redbubble.com/fr/people/comdev/shop) to get me some
Netbeans swag only to find it wasn't there (or maybe it is and I
didn't
notice)! Now I don't claim to be a fantastic artist or anything, but
it's something I could find some spare time to work on.

Would some swag designs be something the Netbeans community like to
have? I could try to whip some stuff up with the Netbeans logo and
the
lovely Nekobean under a permissive creative license for use by Apache
Netbeans.

What do you think?
