Yes, it will be a problem, as the other point out, you're going to need an application server to run Java Web Applications. If you want to use apache one, there's no application server for Java EE 8, but there's for Java EE 7, so look for Java EE 7 Tutorial and try to adapt it to Apache TomEE. But it will be a lot of easier to a begginer if you just stick with Glassfish and learn how it works first.
