Nick, I ran into a batching related issue while doing some Oracle testing on trunk (2.0.0) a short while ago. The issue was fixed in the 11.2.0.1 version of the JDBC driver. It might be worth a shot to try the 11.2.0.1 driver before disabling statement batching.
