Thank you David, ok so: isn't it the behaviour of a layer with wrapDateLine = false, i.e. the default behaviour?
Moreover, I was trying to see the effect of maxExtent property of the map (I think I have to set it wider to just 1 globe, so to go beyond the IDL), but nothing changes, even for very small maxExtents. ...So what does the maxExtent stand for?
