Thanks to both of you, an image layer did what I wanted. However the performance compared to using the feature, stylemap and point went down by a huge amount. This worked with no lag prior to changing to an image layer. Using the same code as Wippermann showed here, just of course slightly modified for URL and bounds.
For reference, the image I use is getting scaled down, which I know isn't optimal, but it worked fine when using an externalGraphic with it. It's a transparent GIF that takes 55kB and is 1770x1426 pixels in size. Dragging around on the map is now sloppy compared to working very well. I guess I'll have to play around with it a bit more and hope to find something to solve it with. :-) -- View this message in context: http://osgeo-org.1803224.n2.nabble.com/Displaying-images-even-at-the-edge-of-the-screen-tp5329187p5415931.html Sent from the OpenLayers Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Users mailing list Users@openlayers.org http://openlayers.org/mailman/listinfo/users
