Have you tried the "Delete" key? Backspace and Delete keys work
differently.  Depending how it is set up Backspace just may not remove from
the cell what you wish it to.

Ctrl+Z is undo. Depending what editing has been done and when there will be
nothing for it to undo that is meaningful to correcting this problem.

Please click ONCE on the cell, next right-click on the cell. On the menu
that appears after the right-click select "Clear Direct Formatting." That
should return the cell to the default formatting for any type of value
entered, date, number, text, etc. (If that's not the format you want let's
not worry about that right now. I think maybe one thing at a time. See if
we can get the information into the cell that you want then try to resolve
formatting.)

If not I suggest you try downloading from there.Another source may not have
the exact "official" version.

Laptop is very convenient. Hopefully we can figure this out with little
enough effort that its worthwhile for you to stick it out through the
troubleshooting.
