Can't Install OpenOffice 4.1

Hello,
I'm trying to install the latest version of OpenOffice. I have Windows Vista 
and I have an .odt file I need to open. I have gone through the download 
process twice, and it completes as far as I can tell, but then when I search on 
my computer, I can only find the installer, not the actual software. When I try 
to open the .odt file, it keeps taking me to the site to download the 
OpenOffice suite.
I meet all the system requirements as far as I can tell.
