I have one of the earliest Intel MacBook which was in 2006.
Two versions of the MacBook came out in 2006 (MacBook1,1 & MacBook1,2). The MacBook Pro also had two versions in 2006
The computer in question probably doesn't have an Intel motherboard
All MacBooks have Intel processors.
and will not run OS X at all.
All Macs since about 2001 run OS X
Even if it does, it cannot be upgraded to Lion.
2006 models came with OS X ver.10.4.xx (Tiger). MacBook1,1 can be upgraded to OS X ver.10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). MacBook1,2 can be upgraded to OS X ver.10.7.5 (Lion).
Apache OpenOffice 4.0.1 will run on all MacBooks Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2 requires OS X ver.10.7.5 (Lion) or newer. -- _________________________________ Larry I.
