I think that Microsoft Office will read .odt files directly. That may produce fewer formatting errors than exporting documents in Microsoft formats from OpenOffice or LibreOffice, because Microsoft has a better chance of correctly interpreting the open OO/LO formats than OO/LO have of correctly creating Microsoft's obscure formats.

Hi,

Why not install Apache OpenOffice or LibreOffice and work with a sovereign
software instead of Microsoft Office?

If you must use Microsoft there is no way around a migration. In order to
migrate Microsoft Office, you Install LibreOffice. Open the document with
LibreOffice and then save As Microsoft Files format (xlsx, docx)
then open the document with Microsoft Office and Check for formatting Errors.

All the best

Hello,

My boss had a good relationship with Apple and used to use Open Office which
then got translated to Microsoft. How does he open all his original Open
Office documents please (.odt)? I’ve been following instructions provided by
AI but with no luck so far.

Thank you in advance for any help you are able to offer, it is greatly
appreciated.

With very best wishes,

Fiona
