Thanks, for some reason after a few attempts my US keyboard capability
loads up once again, although I don't know what will happen the next
time I fire up X11.
I will guess that something has changed in your X11 setup or you have
changed Locales in OOo. For OOo check Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org
and Tools > Options > Language settings. For Mac and X11, we will have
to depend on those familiar with this combo.
