Just to be clear, I am used to the authorization/confirmation email pair, I manage a couple of majordomo lists myself and the process is the same.
My confusion stemmed from the fact that I went through the entire process twice, sending four emails altogether, and still wasn't subscribed. However about a half hour later I did begin to get list emails.
