Well, I tried such as soon as I read your answer.

I turned on the unprintable characters, had all the para signs plus showing, 
put the 
cursor at the preceding para, clicked Format>Default   the para went smaller 
the 
font size was changed.  Then my feeble lonesome mind said, that is not the 
correct 
para sign, you need to find the correct sign---  so I went to the next 
preceding, same 
thing.  I walked up the document about half a page, then the line disappeared.  
Went back and corrected the font size.

Is that the only way to delete the line?  The line can be a handy tool, but 
after it 
needs to be deleted.
