MSVCRT.DLL - Microsoft Visual C Run Time Dynamic Link Library You have an application in your %path% that has an old or defective version of this file... or the one that came with windows is outdated or was replaced... this is called "DLLHELL" and even if you are running XP or 2000 you can still have this type of problem. close out all your applications (including the system tray icons) then run windows search for msvcrt.dll. rename any files that are not listed under the \windows\... directory. now open Internet Explorer and goto windowsupdate.microsoft.com and get all the updates... you might have to reboot and go back to this site to get the upgrades.
BTW, The registry changes don't change the .dll. The changes tell it that its ok to use the newwer version features.
