Hi
This is the first time I've used this service, so I hope I can adequately 
convey my problem.
I often have problems opening attachments in email. I have experimented 
with saving as - and sending (to myself) - many variations on types of 
file. I use fastmail.fm and usually I get a blank grey screen, then 
fastmail automatically logs me out.
My latest problem is that I have started university, and need to open 
attachments from the university intranet forum posts (log-in required). 
When trying to open an attached word document (I also have microsoft word 
on my computer),  I get a blank grey screen, and then a message in a box 
with "openoffice.org1.1.0" across the top (I don't even have openoffice 
open). It says " error loading document http:learn.scu.edu.au/courses/1 etc 
etc......could not establish internet connection to learn.scu.edu.au"". 
When I click on "cancel", another box appears saying "error an API call 
exited abnormally". Often then the screen will freeze somewhat, and I click 
everywhere trying to get out of there.
I have Windows 98 on my computer, a "PC", and "Office 2000". Is the 
"version" of openoffice indicated by "openoffice.org.1.1.0"?
I would appreciate any ideas about solving the problem. Please let me know 
if I need to provide more information (and what about).
