I have just had Open Office installed on my laptop, but cannot find a line-spacing> facility in the object bar. I am a writer and need this facility. Can you help?

You can find ways to change line spacing in the Format->Paragraph dialog, the context (right-click) menu, and on the Formatting toolbar when in a Text (Writer) document. The icons might not be visible on your Object bar, but they can be made visible easily with the "Visible buttons" function from the arrow at the right end of the toolbar.
