Would the Open Office suite install onto a data stick or thumb drive, as they are sometimes called. The Windows version of the programs. I have found that while OO Write can read MS Word documents, MS Word can't handle OO Write documents and so I can't bring them in to school and print them in the College Computer Training lab, or the Library (where they also offer printing services). Thanks.

You aren't subscribed, so I am not sure which mails you got. In general there were three responses. I will list them in the order I like.

1) Ask your school to install OOo. It is free and they have very few
excuses not to.

2) Yes, for help see,
<http://documentation.openoffice.org/HOW_TO/various_topics/USB_key.sxw>.

I run OOo off a 40 GB portable HD so I can use it at my work place.

3) Save your file as MS Word or PDF. A PDF (Acrobat) file made in Linux
will also work in MS Win. PDF stands for portable document format. The
beauty of a PDF is that it works everywhere, like HTML.

A suggestion. This question has been answered like 100+ times in this
list and is well documented on the OOo website. A have included some
tips to get OOo help faster.

1) Use OOo help.
2) Go to <<documentation.openoffice.org>>. Search the *docs*, *FAQs* and
*How To's*. Many questions are already answered.
3) Scan the mailing list archives for related messages. You can search
 the users list here <<http://tinyurl.com/6edyk>>.
4) Use Google or other search engine.
5) If these fail, then ask on an appropriate list.

These tips are expanded upon at <<http://tinyurl.com/3qy4k>>.

Have a good one.
