I desperately need help with effectively two questions. I produced a fairly large text document which included DDE links to other parts of the same document. No problem so far.
I then saved the document to a floppy as backup, following which I moved the original file around in the process of tidying up the folders and files arrangement on the HDD. Now, when I try to open the file from the floppy, or it seems any other file with DDE Links in it, OO fails in its task, continually trying to produce an endless series of items in the TaskBar (Win 98SE) until I hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete. I'm beginning to suspect that the linking process referred the links not to the particular file but to the original file in the original place, whose links will now have been lost. At least that's what I've surmised so far. Question 1 is, how can I retrieve the file to at least open it and read it, even if I do have to redefine all the links in it manually? I've tried recreating the deleted folders and file, to no effect. Question 2 is, how do I ensure in future that any DDE links I put in refer only to the file and not to a file fixed in space as it were? Maybe there's a question 2b, what changes might be needed in Options? There is a (separate) question 3:- How can I reset the issue number of a document? I'm using OOo 1.1.4 and this still does not reset on renaming to a new document.
