In your "folder Options", you will find one part named "file types" (I use the French version, and maybe the exact form will be different), where the suffix ".DOC" probably is associated with "OpenOffice". Click on "Modify" and replace "OpenOffice" by "Microsoft Word". An alternative solution will be to open Word first and then (within Word) to open the files.

Support OpenOffice Suite

Dear Sir or Madam:

I have installed the OpenOffice 1.0.2 and it works good, but it have dominated my word program. I still want MS Word to be my primary text editor for now. How do I stop it from controlling my text files.

You have to double click over My PC icon. Then click over tools --> options (menu). Then select the tab called file types. Looking for the doc type and press over the change button. Finally locate the Word application on your hard disk.

I don't want to delete the program from my system, so can you please help me with this small problem. Thank you!

I hope it help.

Best regards,

Albert A. Rich
