Folks,
Is anyone else having problems using "File=>Send=>Document as email" in the latest beta version of OpenOffice? (I posted this a few weeks ago and got one potentially helpful set of suggestions that didn't pan out -- but thanks anyway!) Since we're now a couple of fresh updates to the beta version later, I thought I'd try again.
When I have a new word-processing file (*.odt) and have yet to write in it and save it, "File=>Send=>Document as email" will bring up the email client I've specified under Tools=>Options=>Email and attach the blank, unsaved file to a fresh email form. So far so good.
Once I've typed anything in the file, however, FSDaE fails to activate the email program, let alone bring up a blank email form with the file attached. The same failure holds true if I save the file (blank or not), regardless of format selected under Save As. I've tried this with two email clients (Thunderbird and Sylpheed) with the same results. The old OO2Sylpheed script no longer seems to work either as a stand-in for Sylpheed's executable.
This also holds true for spreadsheets and other OO file types.
When I used the stable version of OO.o, it found and attached files in any format and in any state of saved/unsaved to whatever email client I specified. (Obviously I can still attach manually, so I'm sticking with OO.o 2beta for many other reasons.) Is OO.o-2 "final" expected to play nicely with all clients and all formats? Or is there some intention of making the OO.o formats the only ones to which the email-yer-file function will respond?
Has anyone come up wit a fix for this? (I did a quick search of the bug index and -- perhaps because I search too quickly -- didn't find a solution there.)
With best regards,
Pete --
