My guest is that your operating system cannot, our does not want to, search zip files. You can use several OOo search tools, like o3find at http://web.tiscali.it/fanelia/sw/o3find/. I use OOoFF (in french) at http://www.starxpert.fr/~fmanens/oooff/ <http://www.starxpert.fr/%7Efmanens/oooff/>

It is very strange but true. I have a file made in open office and when I go to Search file / folder option and specify some text contained in this file, it fails to search that file.
However if I convert the same file to a pdf document the find file / folder option is able to search this pdf file. But it still does not search the open office file.
