FYI: I just downloaded 1.91.104 for the Linux platform and installed. I retested the recovery function and it appears to be working now. I was provided a recovery dialog upon restarting OOo after duplicating the same procedures as before. And the process worked great.
I filed a followup on the issue that I had opened and suggested that it be closed. Whether it was actually broken and fixed or some other dependency is at work in the background is unknown to me at this point. But the current beta version appears to be working fine for me now since I am now unable to duplicate the problem.
