I thought of adding a bit more material but
& at over 400 pages the manual is almost too big and with the wealth of
& tutorial material available on the Internet there didn't seem to be any
& point beyond explaining a bit more on the use of the paragraph marker.

With manuals comprehensive is far more desirable than brief. I would not
excuse leaving stuff out from documentation because you can find stuff on the
internet. Information may be required when there is no internet connect - in
my case when I am sea for months there is no way I can make an internet
connection apart from a 12k connection via ham radio!!! I have to rely on
using what is on the hard drive.

Why not be straightforward and say it was an omission from the documentation
which will be corrected next time and add one of those regex documents into
the package. The other thing regex, in my view, should only be implemented in
accordance with the current standard.
