No. When you install OpenOffice it will ask you how to handle Word, Excel and Powerpoint files "by default". If you choose OpenOffice then double clicking one of these files will invoke OpenOffice. To use the MS Office equivalent you'll have to open them explicitly by right clicking and choosing the relevant program from the Open With dialogue. On the other hand, if you choose the MS route then double clicking will invoke the MS program and you'll need to open them explicitly to use OpenOffice.
