With Format->Character (or, better yet, with a style), mark it, under
Font, as being in No Language.

Presumably the side-effect of that will be that it's never spell-
checked.

If that's the only way of achieving the result, there's a design
flaw.


As to the general issue, I agree, but the question was about URLs and email addresses.
