     The easiest way to stop OpenOffice.org (OOo) from changing your 
files is to tell OOo not to be your default Office Suite. The 
setup_guide.pdf that came with OOo explains how to do that. It also 
explains how to correct the problem if you missed that information in 
the beginning. It is on page 27 of that guide.
     The files were never changed: the file associations were.
