Hello,

No, the Intel version wont function as it should on a PowerPC.

I don't see the Mac PowerPC version of OpenOffice.org 3.0.0 on the official
download page
http://download.openoffice.org/other.html#en-US

but I use the last release candidate (RC4) on my old PPC Powerbook
http://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/3.0.0rc4/
look for the one that ends in
PowerPC_install.dmg<http://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/3.0.0rc4/OOo_3.0.0rc4_MacOSXPowerPC_install.dmg>
http://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/3.0.0rc4/OOo_3.0.0rc4_MacOSXPowerPC_install.dmg
this version is equal to the official release, but apparently, there weren't
enough people available to test the US_english version on Mac PowerPC

or you can even be more up to date and download the milestone 12:
http://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/Dev_OOO300_m12/
and look again for the PowerPC_install.dmg:
