Did you realize that the update feature can be turned off? TOOLS -
OPTIONS - OPENOFFICE.ORG - ONLINE UPDATE - (Uncheck "Check for updates
automatically" and also uncheck "Download updates automatically.")
I hope this removes your objections and you continue to find
OpenOffice.org useful.
