This is more an observation than a cry for help, so maybe it ought to be
in "discuss"
Anyway, on my ubuntu 8.10, using KDE4.2, OOo will start the splash
screen, hold it for a minute or so and complain it wants to recover a
document. Once I get to the "FINISH" button on the recovery page,
whether I chose to recover of not, OO0 dies and disappears.
On the same machine using the gnome or xfce desktop, OOo works OK.
