Once you downloaded the install file did you run it? I am assuming you
did as you can open the file on your desktop and see its contents.
I assume you are working on some version of MS windows and have
downloaded version 2.4 in some flavour as this does not allow the option
to create a desktop shortcut. If you had downloaded version 3 then there
was an option to create a shortcut in the install.
If I am correct then you will find the OOo programs under >Start >Open
Office 2.4 and all the programs are there.
If I am incorrect, the please give us a few more details such as
operating system and version of OOo you are using and someone will be
able to help you.
