It's a known problem. Apple broke something in X11 in OSX 10.5 and the result is that OOo 2.4 will no longer start up. You have a couple of choices, one discussed here on the OOo Forum: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10394 The other being to upgrade to OOo 3.0 for OSX which has full native OSX support.. ie no longer needs X11 to run.
