What is the url of the website where you are attempting to login?
The login you're seeing is needed for participating in forums, submitting issues, and so on. It's completely separate from registering with OOo as part of installation, and also different from subscribing to this list. You have to establish an account for those communications by supplying a username and password, which need not be the same as for the email account you're using here. From the point of view of that administrative function, you have not yet registered -- and as pointed out elsewhere, you don't need that registration to download the updated version of OOo. You're certainly not the first person to find this confusing, though!
