Double-clicking in the cell at the end of the text > selects all the text in the cell, but if I double click on top of the > existing text the cursor jumps off the table to the last line in the > previous page. This makes it really tedious to do formatting like > changing a font for an individual character (something I need to do a > lot). For example, one cell that I just tried to edit contains "[θ, x]" > and I need to change the font for the theta. Additional experimenting has revealed additional information. First, I use a laptop which has a trackpoint, but normally I use an external mouse. I just tried it with the trackpoint and I get the same results. So we know it is not a mouse issue. Besides, the mouse works fine everywhere else and always has. Second, I discovered that the problem occurs only in one column. The table has twelve columns and I can select individual characters with the mouse in any of them. It is only the second column that is affected. Third, thinking that Writer has gotten it into its little electronic head that text like "[θ, x]" is a formula and for some reason formulas should not be editable (why?), I entered the same text in all the other columns and had no problem selecting individual characters. I also entered the word "simple" into column two and was immediately unable to grab an individual character with the mouse. There is some setting for column two that is preventing grabbing individual characters with the mouse.
