I have tried several times to download an update. When I click on the update
button in the upper right hand corner of the open office document window, I get
this message which I have highlighted in red: failed writing received data to
disk/application. Would you please shed some light on this so that I may
download the update?
Thank you

Can you please tell us what operating system you are running and what
version of OpenOffice. This may help sort out the problem. Some versions
of Linux are behind in the versions they are offering.
One point to note is that this will be a complete new version of
OpenOffice rather than files to update your existing version.
I hope that helps

The current version is 3.1. The safest way forward is to download a new
copy of the windows version from www.openoffice.org and install that.
Thanks
