You don't have to register to use OpenOffice.org. BTW, attachments get stripped off in this mail list. > I want to use open office, but when we tried, and sent an e-mail with a > document written with open office attached, the receiver, who uses MS Word, > could not open it. Is that normal??? > By default, OpenOffice.org saves files in ODF format, which Microsoft Office doesn't understand (except Office 2007 & SP2). You'll have to save in Word format, when you use "Save as". Also, make sure automatic file name extension is selected. Another method is to click on File > Send > E-mail as Microsoft Word. Another possibility is to have the recipient install the Sun ODF plugin, which adds ODF support to Microsoft Office.
