You don't have to register to use OpenOffice.org.  BTW, attachments get
stripped off in this mail list.

By default, OpenOffice.org saves files in ODF format, which Microsoft
Office doesn't understand (except Office 2007 & SP2).  You'll have to
save in Word format, when you use "Save as".  Also, make sure automatic
file name extension is selected.  Another method is to click on File >
Send > E-mail as Microsoft Word.  Another possibility is to have the
recipient install the Sun ODF plugin, which adds ODF support to
Microsoft Office.
