Hi Roberto,

Anything that is to do with changing defaults in OpenOffice.org is
usually done in one of two places - the Tools -> Options settings,
or the Styles. In this case, it is the styles you want to change.
You need to change the Default style to have a different Area colour
and then save your document as a template (File -> Templates -> Save).
Then set it to be your default template (File -> Templates -> Organise).
From then on, your new drawings will have your default colour instead
of Blue 8.

onathon, can you do this within Writer, or just within Draw?

Hi Naomi,

This can be done in any of the OpenOffice.org modules - Writer,
Calc, Draw, Impress etc. Simply go into the Styles and Formatting
window (Stylist in 1.x series) using F11 and modify the Default
styles to suit your need. Save it as the default template and your
away. There are some details of this in the OOo Knowledgebase and
where it can be useful eg languages, cell formats etc.

Jonathon... darl... maybe I'm as thick as two bricks (always a possibility, but esp. since it's Friday arvo)... but I cannot see a way to modify default draw object background using Writer paragraph, character, frame, page or list styles. And if I create a draw object (say, a rectangle) the styles window disables ALL of its controls. I'm using OOo 1.9.100, so maybe this is a feature-yet-to-come? Or the two bricks thing... :-) If you have time, a list of steps would be highly appreciated!
