Hi; Just comparing notes.
I find setting or re-setting the page number un-intuitive. Every time I want to start or re-start numbering I end up searching on all the menus for a way of doing it. Then I have to once again use Help => Index => Page numbers. From there it takes three or four key strokes or mouse clicks to make the number change. Yes, it should be easy to remember "The new page number is an attribute of the first paragraph of the page." but it is not -- at least not to me. It may well be logically and appropriately an attribute of the first paragraph, but to me it is an item on its own or properly belongs with stuff about page numbers. If I gauge how many times I have been asked by others how to do it, and, the number of times page numbering questions have been asked on this list, wouldn't it be simpler to add "Page Numbers Start At:" to the Insert => Fields => sub-menu. Maybe a small dialogue that had the following: Page numbering/re-numbering A radio button choice for: Whole document, or From this page A spinner for page number starting at: 0 Other formatting could remain where they are i.e Edit Fields, Format Paragraph. I wouldn't require any changes to the current commands; just easy access to the page numbering part of the dialogue on the paragraph formatting dialogue. Or, I guess I could write a macro. That would solve the problem for me, but not for others. -- Regards Bill Fedora 11, Gnome 2.26.3 Evo.2.26.3, Emacs 23.1.1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected]
