Johnny, you are correct that sorting does "compact" columns D and E.  The
problem still remains how to get the data out of columns A and B into
columns D and E.  If it is not possible to get the data out of columns A and
B, then it is a help knowing that columns D and E can be "compacted by doing
a Sort.  (I can manually copy, one row at a time, the rows in column A and B
that also have a name in column C, into the same row in column D and E, and
at the end Sort to "compact".  When a lot of rows are involved it is easier
to paste on the same row and at the end doing a Sort.  As compared to going
up in columns D and E and "compacting" as each row is Pasted.
