You're very welcome, and giving me *way* too much credit. You've already
gotten the same info from James, and if neither of us had responded,
somebody else would. This list is one of my favorite things about
OpenOffice.org!

Hi there
I am loving using the openoffice as my word processing programme but how
do
I change it so that when I try to open Word documents it does it through
Openoffice NOT Microsoft word? Each time I want to open a doc I have to
go
through the processes of cancelling the Microsoft Word programme setup.
It
is infuriating. I have tried deleting MS but its asking me for a disk
which
I don't have.
Help!

Hi, Jo. This is the "file association" problem, and if what I tell you here
isn't enough, you can look for your operating system's help about that.
Generally speaking, though, you right-click on a file and choose the Open
With option. Browse from the Program Files folder, to the OOo one, to its
program folder, and choose the component that handles that filetype (like
swriter.exe for .doc files). If you have selected the option to always use
this program, you only need to do this once for each of the MS Office
filetypes.
