Hi Dayna,

You can add the category to the data labels in OpenOffice.org. Double click the labels and check 'Show category' on the tab page called 'Data Labels'. Series names are currently not available. You are welcome to submit an issue to request that feature:

Very likely with OOo 3.3 you will be able to add any text box to the chart. That feature is currently worked on.

Excel allows you to put the series name and category name on your chart not just numeric. Is there somewhere that I am missing that adds the text instead of having to put in text boxes yourself.
