Johnathon, I have taken the liberty of forwarding your very informative reply to Robin's question, because he/she contacted me with this question (for which I had no worthwhile answer) and I advised contacting this list. Unfortunately, Robin did not follow all the advice I provided (eg. mentioning that the question came from a non-subscribed poster), so it seems unlikely that Robin would have also read the information I provided about reading replies in Gmane, archives, etc.
