One of the problems I have when downloading files from fellow teachers
who are on iMac is that they lack a file extension. Don't use Macs (or
Windows for that matter) so don't know how they are setup with regard to
extensions. All I know is that I'm prompted asking me if I want to save
the file when I mark it for download. It's just a matter of saving the
file then going back to the download location (I have Firefox set to save
to the desktop) and renaming the file with an appropriate extension.
Since the school is an MS Office user, I just rename it with a .doc (or
whatever is appropriate). Don't know where the weird file name is coming
from.

with open office.
