As an ex-top poster and ex-thread hi-jacker, lets see what else I can
screw up.
I hope to start anew and on good terms and hope everyone will accept my
apologies. I didn't mean to ruin anyones thread or day by using this
mail list incorrectly. Let my ignorance be known and that I feel quite
bad about it, my apologies. I do expect plenty more mistakes to follow.
I've included Gene Young's reply as well into this posting.
Here's what I recently posted when I hi-jacked a thread earlier:
Is there a way to print copies of a document with a script or macro? I
would like to have an icon on the desktop that instantly prints out 30
copies of a document. The document gets printed often in our
restaurant, it's the kids menu, it has a place to color in pictures and
things.
Here's Gene Young's apt reply:
You don't say what your OS is but I will assume Windows.
To enable drag and drop printing create a shortcut to the printer on
your desktop.
1. Double click on My Computer
2. Double click Printers
3. Right click on the printer, and drag to the desktop. Release and
select "create shortcut here"
Drag files and drop them on the printer and they will be printed as long
as they are registered file types that Windows knows how to print.
I just tried this with an .odt file and it printed perfectly. It will,
however, only print once for each file. To overcome this limitation,
create a new duplicate printer with the same properties as your default
and set the default # of copies to 30 (or whatever you want) and place
that one as a shortcut on your desktop with an appropriate name, ie; 30
Copies.

To get back with you Gene,
We're using Ubuntu 8.10 and soon to be upgraded to 10.04 next week.
I don't know if Ubuntu has the same feature for putting a shortcut of
the printer onto the desktop or not. I just tried to do it in both 8.04
and 10.04 I couldn't get it to work the same as Windows.
Would there be a solution as easy as this for Ubuntu?
