Ernie, there is no disk and no lock if you download OpenOffice.org from
www.openoffice.org.
It is a free download, free to be used on as many computers as you want,
As for it seeming to launch and not actually completing, that sometimes
happens to me (I use
WinXP Pro with sp/3). When I launch the taskmaster after this
happening, I see multiple instances
of soffice running. Killing these processes allows a successful launch
of OpenOffice.
