Or, even better would be to download and install OpenOffice.org.  It can't get 
any cheaper, and it actually works.  Not only that but the 2.0 version is 
shaping up rather nicely, I think.

If you do have OO.o and you cannot open the attachments, then you probably 
have an association problem.  In other words you are trying to open OOo files 
with MS Word, or something like that.  If you right click on the file and 
save it, and then right click on it and do an "open with" and select OOo then 
it should open.  Unless he created a file in 2.0 Beta, then it depends on 
what version of 2.0 beta he created the file with.  I have found that 1.9.113 
has a problem opening a file created with a later build, such as 1.9.119, and 
so on.
