Hi:
1) Ami can save in micro$oft .doc format. So you can convert your documents. 2) KeyView for Lotus (search in google) is free and let you see your document formated. It is for windows but works in Wine (Linux) or Virtual PC (Mac). It also used to work in Odin (OS/2). With a little of tuning you can copy and paste in OOwriter.

Dear People,

I have hundreds of documents created using Lotus AmiPro
and WordPro.

I am now going to use OpenOffice.

Any suggestions on how I can convert the old .sam and
.lwp documents to OpenOffice?

Since OpenOffice.org does not support these formats you
will have to use other applications to do these
convertions.

As I recall, Lotus Ami Pro had problems with exporting to MS Word
format although it imported them very well. The later Lotus Word
Pro was much better. I would suggest importing the Ami Pro
documents in Word Pro and then exporting as Word Documents. I
know that sounds like quite a hassle, but I think it might be
worthwhile.
