I'm doing evaluations of mutliple products to pick the most
suitable for the project at hand. This started life as a simple Writer
document - a list of requirements, values that we may see in various
products for this requirement, and a discussion of the requirement. I
then added a spreadsheet that gave a grid of products x requirements.

Next, I added weights to the different requirements, and numeric
equivalents for the possible values for each requirement. Calculating
a "value" for each product is easy in Calc. However, I haved to
maintain the text descriptions and numeric values in both the Calc
spreadsheet and the Writer document. I'd like to fix this by linking
between the documents. Ideally, text descriptions link from Writer to
Calc, and values from Calc to Writer.

However, I've not been able to find adequate documentation on
interdocument linking. The built-in help doesn't seem to have anything
at all. Some of the things I've turned up via Google have resulted in
simple copying, and in creating embedded documents - but not in
something that lets me change one document and update the values in
antoher. Possibly I had it right, and need some action (not mentioned
in the documentation) to update the linking document.

So, I'm looking for a tutorial on interdocument linking, so that I can
maintain only one copy of the descriptions and values. Alternatively,
if I'm tackling this in the entirely wrong way, suggestions on better
ways to do this would be appreciated.

        Thanks,
        <mike
