This may seem like a strange question, but does it rely on Java? If so,
which version of Java do you use? Try with version 1.4xxx rather than 5.xxx

The dictionary installer has been broken under Linux since *very*
early in the development of OOo-2.0 - before OOo-1.9.69.
Obviously it would be great to have the dictionary installer working
before OOo-2.0 is released, otherwise you'll be:
- finding your dictionary pack
- copying it to the right location
- getting out your text editor and hacking up your config files
- starting OOo and hoping that things work
Unfortunately it's often not as simple as that. At one point in the
distant past I did actually have a non-US dictionary pack working, but
that was after editing the dictionary.lst file and removing all traces
other other languages that OOo suggested that I may be more inclined
to use such as 'British English' and 'Danish'.
At present, I simply give up. I persnaly dont hav a problm spelin but
I no othrs in my ofis that certanli do, and lyf will becom dificlt for
our clyents when we upgraid to OOo2 unles we can get a dicshoneri pak
instald. And yes, we are running Linux desktops.
