I had something like this when I first tried to install OO. I did a
complete uninstall and downloaded a new copy of OO2 for Mac OSX. I
have installed it on two 10.4.3 machines now with success.
I do not know exactly what happened, but I suspect that either the
first download was corrupted or I downloaded a slightly earlier
version first and something got fixed in the interim.

Thanks for your help those of you that responded. I've installed x11
and java 1.5 is on my system, but I still can't install OO. It
downloads just fine and lets me copy it to the applications folder,
but when I open it it moves to the dock for about five seconds, then
automatically closes. Anything else I can try before I give up?
