John, I am not blind. You can't negate the point, all icons look the same. The 
squiggle, cells etc are the smallest visible part of the icon. At least on a 
Windows based computer.

Base: a disk.
Calc: four cells of a spreadsheet.
Draw: a squiggle.
Impress: a video screen.
Math: a capital sigma.
Writer: three lines of left-aligned text.
