Hi, Tried a few of your suggestions Re. the corrupt XML file. Have upgraded to OOo 2.0.1 and get a different error:
Read-error. Format error discovered in the file in sub-document content.xml at 2,8459(row,col). As per suggestion I unzipped the ods file and found the offending part in content.xml, but nothing was obviously wrong to me. opened content.xml with XML Marker, a Windows XML editor, and it said that the structure of the XML was fine. Double-clicked on the content.xml (in Win XP) and Internet Explorer came up with this message: Duplicate attribute. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/Documents and Settings/Jack/Desktop/Copy of ULTIMATE STOCK LIST ... <style:table-cell-properties style:cell-protect="protected" style:print-content="true" style:direction="ltr" style:rotati... So it looks like it's some kind of duplicate formatting error, but I don't know enough about Open Office's XML to see what's wrong, and I really have no idea how it happened/happens (although it usually seems to happen when Office is shutting down under very high processor activity). Here's the tag that the error is supposedly enclosed in, from 2,8206 to 2,8675: <style:table-cell-properties style:cell-protect="protected" style:print-content="true" style:direction="ltr" style:rotation-angle="0" style:rotation-align="bottom" xmlns:fo="urn:oasis:names:tc:opendocument:xmlns:xsl-fo-compatible:1.0" fo:color="#ff00ff" xmlns:fo="urn:oasis:names:tc:opendocument:xmlns:xsl-fo-compatible:1.0" fo:font-size="18pt" xmlns:fo="urn:oasis:names:tc:opendocument:xmlns:xsl-fo-compatible:1.0" fo:font-weight="bold" style:vertical-align="middle"/> For what it's worth, I saw there were three duplicate entries of xmlns:fo="urn:oasis:names:tc:opendocument:xmlns:xsl-fo-compatible:1.0" in that, and I took them out so that it looked like this: <style:table-cell-properties style:cell-protect="protected" style:print-content="true" style:direction="ltr" style:rotation-angle="0" style:rotation-align="bottom" xmlns:fo="urn:oasis:names:tc:opendocument:xmlns:xsl-fo-compatible:1.0" fo:color="#ff00ff" fo:font-size="18pt" fo:font-weight="bold" style:vertical-align="middle"/> ...and then put the ods file back together. When loaded into OpenOffice I got the same error in a different place: Read-error. Format error discovered in the file in sub-document content.xml at 2,9065(row,col). I can send the file on request - it's about 1.8mb. content.xml is 66mb uncompressed though, which makes it troublesome opening it with a text editor or especially with an xml editor. Can anyone help? It would be much appreciated. Alex ---Original Message:--- Hi. > > I am using open office spreadsheet.
